What can you say about imprecatory prayer?

Imprecatory prayer is merely a way to be honest with God about our feelings toward His enemies. David's prayer is a prime example of imprecatory prayer. David prays, “Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked” in Psalm 3:7. He also uttered, "Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none" in Psalm 10:17. Although this kind of prayer is directed to certain enemies that he wanted God to judge, we can use those imprecatory Psalms as models to pray against those that hinder the advancement of God's kingdom in this world. It could be for wicked people who work actively to promote harm towards God's people or even harm this world. Imprecatory prayer should not be employed for selfish reasons, but must be accompanied by righteous indignation. An example would be “Lord, how come this is happening in my life. Why do you prosper your enemies while you forget me. Expose their evil activities and bring destruction upon them. I know you have never forgotten me.”
