What are your thoughts on pastors that resign and get into business? Does that imply that they are disobeying God? Do they not truly have this spiritual calling?

The apostle Paul stated that God's spiritual gift is without repentance, or a change of mind. When God gave us spiritual gifts, He did not make a mistake. He understands that the spiritual gifts he gave to each believer are exactly what they need to utilize to encourage and edify the body of Christ. According to Scripture, pastoring and teaching are spiritual gifts. And believers who are called to be pastor-teachers should use their God-given gifts to honor and glorify the Lord. However, there are other reasons why a believer may cease to function in that specific gift. #1 Reason - He answered the "calling," certain he was genuinely "called" to be a pastor-teacher; yet, after some time, he reverted to the secular realm. He was convinced he had "heard" the Lord, but in reality, he had not. He abandoned being a pastor-teacher, believing he could manage the challenges associated with that spiritual calling. If this is true then they are not genuinely called to be pastors and teachers. I am certain that the Lord does not err, but we are capable of doing so. #2 Reason - He answered the call, believing that God had chosen him as a pastor-teacher. Nevertheless, he was compelled to pursue an alternative course due to financial limitations, familial pressure, emotional hurt, and erroneous counsel. He ultimately forsook God's spiritual calling for his life. He will be held accountable to God for his decision to forgo his calling as a pastor-teacher. When Peter and the other apostles resumed fishing due to their false assumption that Jesus had not fulfilled His promise to resurrect, the Lord appeared just at the right time to encourage them to tend to His lamb and sheep. Provided the believer intends to continue in his spiritual calling as a pastor-teacher, it is commendable. The timing of his return to fulfill the divine calling once more that God has previously called him to do is a matter between him and the Lord.
