Do you believe that God does not speak in a whisper?
It is not accurate to say that God does not speak in a whisper. In the Old Testament, Elijah withdrew into a cave, pouting, because he mistakenly thought he was the only prophet left in Israel. And the Lord passed via a wind, earthquake, and fire. However, the Lord was not in all of these. And after these, he heard the voice of the Lord in the form of a gentle whisper. And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. - 1 Kings 19:12 ESV After the earthquake there was a fire. But the LORD wasn't in the fire. And after the fire there was a quiet, whispering voice. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his coat, went out, and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then the voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" - 1 Kings 19:12-13 GW Is it possible that God could still do this today? Nothing is impossible for an omnipotent God as long as it does not go against His written word. The Scripture is, without a doubt, the source of our authority. We ensure that all we receive is in agreement with the teachings of the Bible. Some people believe that because we already have the Scripture, God no longer has the ability to communicate with His people through other means. If this is the case, we are limiting an all-powerful God. I believe that if God does this, He will never contradict His written word. The Holy Spirit assures that when He communicates to us, He never contradicts the Scripture. In truth, the Holy Spirit accomplishes this by bringing into remembrance Jesus Christ's teachings. The Greek term for "remembrance" is ὑπομιμvήσκω, which also means to "remind quietly" similar to a whisper. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. - John 14:28 This is the type of whisper or remembrance that doesn't involve any condemnation. How will you know if the voice is from God? One must be well familiar with the Scripture. And when God whispers or communicates to believers today, He ensures that it encourages rather than discourages us. I hope your Trinity is not the Father, the Son, and the "Holy Bible," but rather the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
